Fall Style: Nordstrom Anniversary Sale 2017 Purchases

Last weekend I finally made some time to go through my Nordstrom Anniversary Sale purchases! I made decisions on what to keep versus what to return, and took some photos to share the look and fit of the items I kept with you. I set my alarm for midnight on Thursday the 13th in order to have first dibs to shop the presale online. For the most part, this year's sale items looked the same or very similar to last year, so I did not see very many pieces that stood out. I had a small fall shopping list ready, and after browsing for about an hour I ended up ordering twelve pieces and keeping ten. I did not purchase any handbags this year, and only two items over $100: one good pair of cognac riding boots and one coat. Please scroll through for more photos, links, and sizing information for this year's Nordstrom Anniversary Sale finds.

These Zella High-Waist Leggings are perfect for barre classes or athleisure looks. The mesh cutouts are stylish but still have adequate coverage so I don't feel too exposed (I'm wearing an XS). Only black is available for this style. I also purchased a pair of Zella's staple black Live In High-Waist Leggings (also an XS) since they were such a good deal and I have a couple of older low-waist pairs that I have just about worn out. Black and Burgundy colors are both on sale. I love that high-waist leggings are in this year, they are so much more flattering! These white Slip-On Tennis Shoes are incredibly comfortable and great for travel. I debated keeping them because I already have white Converse sneakers, but I do like that these are leather and easy to clean. I ordered my standard size (8M) and they fit great. This style is also available in black and clay brown.

This BLANKNYC Metallic Faux Leather Moto Jacket was somewhat of an impulse purchase, but I'm kind of in love now that I have it in hand (I still have the tags on it as you can see). I already have a lighter grey faux leather jacket, but this one really pops against an all black outfit and will be perfect for going out. I ordered a size small, and while I think an XS would have fit I don't mind the extra room for layering. I recently rediscovered these Zella jogger pants in my closet (they were hidden in a drawer) and have been all about wearing them with cage sandals and a bodysuit for a night out. You can find the current Zella jogger pants here, they are slightly longer than mine but look like the same comfortable material and although they are not on sale the price is still reasonable.

Next up is the Halogen Rib Knit Cold Shoulder Sweater in burgundy and the Cole Haan Katrina Riding Boots in harvest brown leather. This sweater is not too thick, as you can see by the fact that the particular bra I'm wearing here shows through (oops), but I actually think it's the perfect weight for work. I would like to note that you can wear a standard racerback bra and you should not have any issues with your bra straps showing (something I have run into before with other cold shoulder tops that stopped me from purchasing). I am wearing a regular XS for the additional length, but this sweater is available in petite sizes as well. It is available in black, navy, and bright red. I had also purchased the Halogen Tie Hem Sweater in the same burgundy color, but returned it because it was quite a bit thicker (too hot) and the tie looked strange on me. Cognac or British tan riding boots were on my list to purchase at this year's sale, and these boots are the item that I will wear the most. Everything about these boots is high quality including the leather, the sole, the zipper that doesn't get stuck as you zip them up, and the cushioned footbed with arch support. My foot is a pretty standard size, not narrow and maybe a little bit wide at the front, but I have no problem putting them on and they feel so comfortable in the bit of time I have been wearing them around the house. These boots are available in black and brown and I see all sizes available online as I write this post!

This Kenneth Cole New York Double Face Coat is my second favorite purchase of the sale! Another item on my list for to look for during this year's sale was a car coat or something that fell between a long sweater and a full-on wool coat. I wanted something that I could wear around the office during the fall, winter, and spring because depending on where you are located throughout the building you could be perfectly fine or absolutely freezing. This coat is exactly what I was looking for, I ordered an XS and it fits perfectly. Although I see some reviews say that the sleeves feel itchy (they are a wool blend) they have not bothered me yet. I see that as of today the grey color is completely sold out online, but some sizes of the brown are still available and I am hoping that this coat will be restocked. I also purchased this Topshop Long Coat to try as well, but I returned it because I just don't feel like the quality is up to par and the Kenneth Cole coat will last longer for only $20 more at the current sale prices.

My last piece to show you is this Halogen Scallop Edge Sweater in ivory cloud. This sweater is made of a soft cotton blend and is perfect for both work and casual wear. I ordered a regular size small (rather than petite) for the additional length. With a sale price under $40, I can understand why almost all of the colors and sizes sold quickly! Backorders are available on Nordstrom's website if you don't mind waiting for your size to get back in stock.

There are two more items that I neglected to take a photo of: a rose gold crossover ring and a pair of rose gold mirrored sunglasses (not on sale, but regular price of only $55). Please scroll through the widget below to see all of my purchases from this year's Nordstrom Anniversary Sale:
